STATES

One smell, many states.

A smell can be met in different states: wet or dry, fresh or aged, raw or roasted. SmellBook records a state only where an entry’s own records or a VERIFIED claim say so. A state never makes a new smell.

ABOUT STATES

A state says how an entry is met, such as wet, aged or roasted. It does not create a new smell, and it adds no scientific fact by itself: states marked EDITORIAL come from the entry's own records, and only those marked VERIFIED are reported by a VERIFIED claim. Every candidate was checked in a separate, independent review pass against the entry's records and the claim text; quality words, incidental mentions and neighbouring things were rejected. Every list is alphabetical or in record-number order. SmellBook does not rank smells, recommend them or order them by popularity.
