Documenting the smell of historic books ↗

A heritage-science study documented the smell of historic paper by combining visitor descriptions of a historic book extract, a sensory evaluation in a historic library and chemical sampling of volatiles from a historic book and library, producing a Historic Book Odour Wheel.

One case study of historic paper, proposed as a framework for recording heritage smells; other collections and libraries differ.
