Air freshener and off-gassing inside taxis ↗

Inside 14 pairs of Barcelona taxis, the volatile organic compounds reflected a complex mixture of traffic-related emissions entering the cabin, but those from inside the cabin included high monoterpene concentrations from an air freshener, and interior off-gassing may explain why the youngest taxi had the highest levels of alkanes and aromatic compounds (a chemical family, not a description of smell).

Taxis in one city on weekdays, mostly driven with windows open; it measures air composition, not odour.
