Headspace analysis of 14 rubber types at the drying temperature used in rubber processing found volatile fatty acids such as acetic, propanoic, butanoic, pentanoic and hexanoic acids often above their odour detection thresholds, along with odorous trimethylamine, p-cresol, indole and phenol.
