Major component · the claim says “were among the dominant volatiles”
In stored Kuerle fragrant pears, hexanal, ethyl hexanoate, ethyl butanoate, ethyl acetate, hexyl acetate, ethanol, α-farnesene and butyl acetate were among the dominant volatiles, gas chromatography–olfactometry indicated that the collected volatiles were responsible for the pear's aroma, and during storage some aroma-related volatiles increased while others, especially esters, decreased.
Scope: One pear variety (Pyrus serotina) over months of storage. CLM-PEAR-001 ↗

WHAT THIS MEANS
SmellBook lists a molecule only where a VERIFIED claim names it, in the role and scope that claim states. A molecule reported in a smell's evidence is not the whole smell: most smells come from many compounds together, and the studies measured particular samples, such as one cultivar, an essential oil or a cooked product.
