Smell before perfume
Fragrance matters, but it is only one part of the sensory world. SmellBook is designed to include ordinary, natural, cultural and environmental smells too.
HOW WE WANT TO BUILD IT
SmellBook can be playful without pretending every idea is science. These principles are intended to keep the project ambitious while protecting clarity and trust.
Fragrance matters, but it is only one part of the sensory world. SmellBook is designed to include ordinary, natural, cultural and environmental smells too.
Smell is personal. Community patterns can be useful, but they should not erase individual experience or be presented as clinical truth.
Scientific evidence, community perception, editorial interpretation and prediction are different things. The product should make those differences clear.
When SmellBook eventually connects ideas to physical fragrance products or professional scenting, recommendations should respect product use, sensitivity and applicable safety standards.
Future product recommendations should remain independent of affiliate commission. Sponsored placements, if introduced, should be clearly distinguished.
The public product should feel human, visual and intuitive. Complex models and proprietary methods are infrastructure, not the brand story.
